Description

Decaffieinated English Breakfast loose leaf tea is a Flowery Pekoe (FP) high-grown tea sourced from Travancore, South India. A high-quality tea is used as it retains its flavour better than others while undergoing the natural CO2 decaffeination process. With a balanced astringency and lovely floral notes, it truly makes a wonderful breakfast tea for those looking for less caffeine.

Production

The decaffeinated leaf production is through a process called CO2 decaffeination. This method involves using pressurised carbon dioxide (CO2) to extract caffeine from the tea leaves. The CO2 decaffeination process is considered the most natural and effective way to remove caffeine while preserving the tea's flavour and health benefits.

Health Benefits

Decaffeinated English Breakfast Tea offers many of the same health benefits as regular English Breakfast Tea, including:

  • Rich in antioxidants, which can help protect cells from damage
  • It may improve heart health by reducing cholesterol levels and blood pressure
  • Can support digestion and weight management
  • It may improve mental alertness and focus

Caffeine Content

The amount of caffeine in decaffeinated breakfast teas varies depending on the brand and specific decaffeination process used. Generally, it contains around 2–5 mg of caffeine per 250 ml cup, compared to 27–35 mg in a regular cup of English Breakfast Tea.

Brewing

To brew Decaffeinated English Breakfast Tea, follow these steps:

  • Heat fresh, filtered water to a rolling boil (around 212°F or 100°C).
  • Add one teaspoon of loose-leaf tea per 250 ml cup.
  • Pour the boiling water over the tea and steep for 3-7 minutes.
  • Strain the loose leaves.
  • Enjoy your tea plain or with milk, sugar, honey, or lemon.

Taste Comparison

Decaffeinated English Breakfast Tea has a similar taste to regular English Breakfast Tea. The CO2 decaffeination process preserves the tea's flavour, resulting in a robust and full-bodied taste that is comparable to its caffeinated counterpart.

Evening Tea?

Due to its low caffeine content, Decaf English Breakfast Tea is an excellent choice for evening consumption. Its reduced caffeine levels make it less likely to interfere with sleep compared to regular caffeinated tea.

Pregnant or Breastfeeding?

Due to its low caffeine content, Decaf English Breakfast Tea is generally considered safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. However, it's important to consult your healthcare provider before consuming any caffeinated beverages during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
